IN bay friction machines

Do you like the Tandem? If you were purchasing from PDQ again today, would you go with another PDQ Tandem, or the PDQ Pro Touch Icon?

I like the Tandem machine quite a bit. There was a certain learning curve that was present, and it was compounded a bit by our distributors lack of knowledge about the machine. After the initial hiccups were over, and I got the wash passes set up the way I wanted them to, I was turning out fantastic looking cars. If I were to do it over again, I would give a good look at washworlds profile max that isn't out yet. But would probably still wind back up at the Tandem. The dual bridges and wide open bay make the tandem IMO different than anything else out on the market. I would definitely choose it over the Icon, but that is again just my opinion.

I've spoke to a few tech guys at PDQ, and they all prefer the tandem over the Icon as well. The icon was created for the gas station/c store market who wanted a friction machine...that is what one of the tech guys told me anyways.

I believe ScottV in upstate NY has a tandem at one or two of his locations, perhaps you are close enough to check one out.

I have an ICON and love the quality of cleaning it does. Every machine will have it's issues. Good to talk with the manufacturer about the options.

I don't have the Tandem nor the Icon but a Washtec gantry machine. I feel PDQ has taken all what I hate about my gantry machine and put it into the Icon: no open bay, gantry, tracks on the floor, etc.
If I could see an improvement of the Tandem it would be a 3. brush to speed things up. Can't wait to see WW Profile Max.
