Has anyone tried using spray foam insulation in the ceiling of the IBA? If so, is there a type of insulation I should use?

From my research Closed Cell foam should work. I would check with manufacturer on exact specifications. I have considered using it as well - directly on metal roof. Problem is its ugly and gets uglier with age.

I have used it in several bays. The key is to paint it after installed. Our installers always painted it with a mobile home roof paint and it has held up for 20 years.

Was looking to insulate an a-frame roof. It was suggested to use open cell so it would deteriorate with leaks and be easy to find and fix. Apparently closed cell is more water proof and would hide a leak, potentially causing more damage.

It was also mentioned to use fireproof paint, or a spray foam that had it all in one to keep the fire marshal happy.

This all might not apply if you have a metal roof or installing it in an outdoor structure, but I’ve got shingles.. in Florida. (Constant leaks.)
Just a thought, hope it helps.
