Was looking to insulate an a-frame roof. It was suggested to use open cell so it would deteriorate with leaks and be easy to find and fix. Apparently closed cell is more water proof and would hide a leak, potentially causing more damage.
It was also mentioned to use fireproof paint, or a spray foam that had it all in one to keep the fire marshal happy.
This all might not apply if you have a metal roof or installing it in an outdoor structure, but I’ve got shingles.. in Florida. (Constant leaks.)
Just a thought, hope it helps.
