I was not Thinking Clearly--HELP

Fast and Clean
We had a ton of change which we throw in a large container. We both empty our pockets everyday and it adds up. I put the change (probably 25- 30 pounds) in open container on back porch. They got plenty of rain blown in and discolored--mostly greenish copper look. After a couple of failed attempts to clean I added a little muratic acid--bad idea. Now they are really discolored and sticking together. How can we clean??

Thanks

WOW!! I think you’re going to have to neutralize the acid with something like baking soda and then flush the coins well with clean water. To clean coins or tokens we use a rock tumbler. Our clean up guy uses the Coin Star machine at the local Safeway grocery store to turn in the change he digs out of the vac’s, they are to dirt for the bank to take.

Take it to a CoinStar. It costs 8.9% to get it transferred into cash, or you can get a voucher to use at Amazon dot com with no loss in value. They don't care about the color of the coins.
