How to shift a Tesla into neutral

Had one come in, get on the conveyor then realized it wouldn't go into neutral. The "N" wasn't backlit on the display and the selector would just skip over it between a backlit "R" and "D".

I think it is the same as a Mercedes, Steering wheel is the same
