Head Quarters?

Pulled these from the coin box today. They look exactly like a quarter, I kept looking at them and because they wouldn't go through the coin counter, then when you look closer you can see why. They are slightly larger than a quarter which makes sense, but I thought it was illegal to make a token that looks so much like a quarter. They look professionally minted. Has anyone seen these?

Twodose,

We haven't seen any ... but it seems like magnetic signature coin mechs like most of us in the coin op car wash business use would be added protection. Many in the coin op laundry industry still downplay the need for the better more discriminating coin mechs ... which ... for the life of me ... does not make sense.

It is kind of neat when a baffled customers is wondering why their silver quarter keeps coming back & one us comes to their rescue. Of course ... always with total 100% honesty!

I see these are selling on ebay for around $15.00 ea. Looks like I may have actually made a profit at the wash today.

My guess is they are coming from China, but I don't know for sure. You can get on alibaba.com and find fake silver dollars, quarters, etc.

Did anyone take the time to look at the picture on the back of the token? Hence...the 'head' quarters moniker. Is there an adult bookstore nearby you named 'head quarters'? I would wash your hands immediately!!!:(

Interesting find. Certainly illegal to produce from what I know.

Recently, my coin sorter became unreliable, so I hand sorted for a time. In the first hand sort, I found two silver quarters from the 1950's. Gee I'd like a lot more washes like that, but not if I have to hand sort coins!

I have found over the years that when I find silver quarters there is usually more then one when I find them. Assuming whoever is using them emptied a piggy bank and didnt notice them. My coin counter doesnt find them but I can hear them. Also when I dump them in the counter at TD Banks machine it doesnt accept silver coins. I wait until I have 100 or so, or when silver is high I will cash them in. I havnt noticed the head coins but will have to look now!!!
