Goldline door retrofit.

I think I have read most or all of the posts on the retrofit door, but most I found are older. It is time for me to upgrade older gold line units. At this point, have the credit card readers been working smoothly. I have been told I need the DAN, another source says no. I think Roz has a lot of experience with the doors, but his older posts are no longer taking replies, it appears anyway. Any experiences with the doors, or even the Commander, would be a help with the direction I go, Thank you.

I upgraded my 20 year old Goldline with the cryptopay conversion. I have swipe and tap. I replaced the original XE validator with a Mars. This was an awesome upgrade for me and has greatly streamlined payment transactions at my IBA. I'm super happy with the outcome of this upgrade. The Mars is a great validator; sucks the bill in and mostly it stays in. The XE had so many rejects the customers grew sick of it and I don't blame them; it was bad. The only CC issue is of course people either: a. swiping mag strip on wrong side b. swiping a bad card, or c. thinking the voice prompt on the Goldline ( "you have selected...ULTIMATE car wash") means they have paid ; it doesn't. the announcement speaker in the wash bay beeps 3x then announces " DRIVE FORWARD " when they have actually paid.

So our upgraded doors are working now. That said the IDTech cc readers seem to have a high failure rate for no reason. Hamilton will swap them out for you within a specific warrantee time period but you still lose a day or two accepting cc.

Hamilton said we do not need a DAN for the door but we have a DAN since we have their app too. We had to upgrade our DAN from a version 7 to the current version 10 for the new doors.

The cc readers requires users to press a green button to get the wash selection to communicate with the cc reader the price to charge. That is a big learning curve and the only ongoing issue for new customers. No one reads the instructions plastered over the doors.

We use CryptoPay for our vacs and SS bays so in hindsight if I knew what I know now I would have gone with a CryptoPay upgrade door from KR with a swiper and tap device or just a tap plus.

Pics show our door and the fault we recently experienced.

Just did this last night at my small wash
Old original bill acceptor went bad, and they no longer fix them.
So ordered the retro fit kit for a new mars/ Talos bill acceptor.
Easy swap - worked when turned on.
All is good!

I really like the Id tech cc reader that I installed on my Commander.
MY CUSTOMERS like it more!!!!!
Much easier than the original Ingenico.
But- I have a roof over my pay station and keeps weather off of the unit.

as far as the customer is concerned, all the equipment has to be very simple and intuitive. The minute you ask the customer to do one extra little thing that seems like the easiest thing in the world to you, they can't do it. They won't do it. They won't learn and they'll get mad and blame you that it's not simpler and easier. They want to select the wash, swipe the card and drive in. That's it. A lot of them even think that the equipment should somehow magically select the wash for them. None of these people could ever be business owners because they obviously don't have what it takes in the tenacity department.
