I live in a small community of about 500 if you count the dogs. Two gas stations on the highway with a big time gas war. Regular was $1.23 a gal. & diesel was $2.97. War lasted about 3 days but you had to wait for tanker truck to fill the stations tanks & then wait in line for a LOOOONG time to fill up. Regular is still $2.05 per gallon.
I did notice something interesting; before the huge increases, regular unleaded/plus/super were in most cases separated by 10? each (20?/gallon between regular and super) but when prices went up it was 30 amd in some cases 40? difference. Almost all I see now are still at least 30? despite prices dropping.
My truck has gone from $120+ a fillup to around $50. Thank God. Regular unleaded here is in the high $1.40's. They say it may go under $1 after the first of the year. I will believe that when I see it but it is still much better than a few months ago.
Mine's gone from $120 to $20 - I sold the full-size for a smaller truck, partly because of the high fuel prices. Wouldn't you know it they started dropping almost immediately after I started getting 30 mpg.
He drives a lot, regular non-stop trips to Vegas for example, a solid 12 hour trip each way from here. Besides, he claims he gets the same mileage whether he fills them or not.
I was spending so much for fuel with my old truck that for a while I tried only filling it halfway each time hoping that the lessened weight would help the fuel mileage, but for some reason it made it worse. Not just a little, but a whole MPG - that's a lot when you only get 16 to begin with.
