Follow Up on price increases for dummies

I have owned my 1st wash for 3 months and everything is running pretty smoothly. My main competition is at $17 for wash and vacuum and they take about 45 minutes to complete it. My customers like my price and like how quickly I can get them finished.

My current pricing for IBA is $6-$8-$10. We scrub the car before it enters the wash and dry it after it comes out.

I am trying to decide if I should go to $7-$9-$11 or $8-$10-$12.

I have 2 bays and in order to run them both when we get busy I need at least 2 people here at all times which means that I am here almost all the time.

I am thinking about making one of the bays self serve during the week and full serve on the weekends. This way I only need one employee monday through thursday and two employees Fri-Sun. I would leave the self serve bay at the existing prices and only raise the prices on the full serve bay.

My goal is to not have to be here all the time and just come in to manage when I need to.

Please tell me what you suggest for price increase, as far as I know they have been the same for 5-10 years.

Also I would like to hear your thoughts on one full service bay and one self service bay.

thanks,

Trevor

Since I bought the wash I added Wash and Vacuum for $13.99 and quick detail for $18. We can handle the demand pretty well now but if I cut back during the week I don't think it will be possible. I am thinking about removing these two services and only doing exterior washes. I am also thinking about making my vacuums free for customer use to create more traffic flow.

thoughts?

Having your two bays offering different things will be very confusing for customers. I know people do it with touch free on one side and friction on the other, but with the same equipment it seems like more trouble. I do not speak from experience on this issue.

Regarding the new prices, go with the $8, $10 & $12.

thanks

thanks for the input. Anyone else have an opinion on my prices? What do you think about free vacuums? Has anyone experimented with this? A lot of washes in Dallas are structured this way.
