Equipment and general carwash support

I have been all around the carwash industry for 6+ years now and have seen many corners of this small industry. I'm really just curious if any private owner/operators really use those equipment supports that cost hundreds of dollars per hour. When all else fails who are your go to contacts?

I have two great companies near me.

and

Both are expensive but can usually fix an issue for me within a day or two. By time I could figure it out, order the parts and repair it. I am money ahead to pay them and get me back up and running.

Autowash Maintenance ( my equip distributor) and my buddy eric.
Stop telling people I’m your “buddy”.

I do almost all of my own repairs. This forum is my main source for anything Carwash related. I have a great distributor but I just can’t stomach paying labor on something I can figure out on my own. Many people don’t have the diagnostic skills to fix their own stuff.

Again, this forum, along with my “Buddy Waxman” are always helpful. I burned up a 25hp motor for one of my Razors over the weekend. Waxman wanted to bring me a motor on Sunday but I had him wait until Monday morning. He even stayed and helped me install it! Nice to be back open quickly when there are cars to wash.

What happened to it? I had six different Mark VII machines with the 25HP motor and never had one fail. They were out on the gantry and always looked like something a magnet fisher would find, but they always ran.
Motor repair shop said it needed to be rewound and it would be cheaper to buy a new motor. This motor is 8 years old with at least 120,000 washes on it. I suspect a defect in one of the brushes caused something to shatter and damage the attenuator.

For a motor that's been running for 8 years, insulation resistance testing is pretty important.
Honestly, you're lucky it didn’t turn into a fire without anyone noticing.

At my company, the person in charge would’ve definitely gotten in trouble for something like this.
