Anyone every use a motion detector to wake you up at night so you can look at your cameras.? If so, what and how?

Most DVRs have the ability to detect motion and set off an alert of some type.

You might get better help if you title your thread with something more descriptive of the content.

I have seismic sensors in all my equipment and motion detection in the office.
Unless someone bangs the equipment this setup works very well. Although you can do motion detection with the cameras I would not recommend this. I'd rather have a separate alarm system. There is too much fiddling around with the motion detection of a camera system. The alarm system is rock solid.

Seismic sensor or vibration / shock sensor. They are very cheap and can be adjusted. They go on the back side of the equipment. I found a website with similar sensors to what I have:
