Double Bond

I have started using Double Bond.My rep told me to use a purple tip with my hydrominder. The beading was not good,so I slowed the machine down & it improved.I want to use a bigger tip so I can speed-up the machine. My rep said if I go up in tip size I might clog up the tubing & hoses. Is that true,& if so, what can I do to keep the line from clogging.

double bond

Double bond, is NOT a drying agent and should be backed up by a drying agent and you should use between 1 and 2 oz per car.Tip size can vary depending on pressure, type of machine, and so forth.I just did this to a laser 4000 with great luck, using a drying agent right after double bond.Make sure you use the printer tape that has the 3 dollar rebate on the back of the tape works great, helps sell top washes.

What I meant by beading was not good was, after the wash when it rained the beading was not good.I had been using Lustra Shield with an orange tip & it beaded up after a rain.My machine is an Autec 425,I do a first half rinse pass with fresh water,& then the second half rinse pass with just Double Bond.Customer then drives through rinse arches. If I can't increase the amount of Double Bond I'm applying to the vehicle because of clogging issues,I need to go back to Lustra Shield.

Going to a bigger tip size such as a yellow tip makes it 90 to 1. Make sure that you are using between 1.5 and 2 oz (this is key) it will bead, water off in the rain.It should not clog,I have Double bond running in a sonny`s pumping station which is a hydrominder,a bucket and a G57 flow jet pump.In a tunnel and in a laser 4000 that is an injector like a hydrominder. If you are running water threw a rinse arch for final rinse, why would it clog>>good luck.

Double bond is usually applied at 1.5 -2oz per car. Have your rep meter it for the correct application. Use a rinse or drying agent after wards. It takes a "cure time" to bead up. And definatly get the reciept paper with the $3 rebate on the back to help sell the product. I have used DB for almost 5 years now. The only clogging issue I have are about once evey 2 years as the teflon settles in the lines. It will start to spray "clots" od small brown dots on the cars. Every few years I have to replace the tubings and blow out the rain curtian. I sell about 20-25% of sales a day of double bond.

I personnally use it on my truck at least once a week.... I can drive without my wippers on in Florida in a down pour and still see! It's a great product. I do not represent Simoniz in any way.

I purchased a drum of Double Bond & received the $3 rebate kit. I'm thinking about how to market it & I'm wanting to know, is this a long term promotion or is it temporary ?

rebate

If you are using this in an inbay automatic you can bye printer tape with the rebate on the back of your recipt tape that comes out of the machine.Simoniz sells it.Keep this as an ongoing special,If you get any concerns about your top packege being to high, the 3 dollar rebate is a great way to market lower prices.

I'm also running Double Bond right now on my top wash package. My distributor and Simoniz sales rep told me that in order to do the $3 Rebate Simoniz required that you buy Simoniz chemicals exclusively. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? From what I've read it seems as though if you buy doublebond from simoniz you can use whatever other chemicals you want and still offer the rebate.

That's total Bull $hit! Every drum of DB is to come with a "promotional package" that package contains (or did for 5-6 years); buttons, trash bags, tear off flyers and REBATE FORMS!

The register tape must be PURCHASED to replace the rebate forms that WERE INCLUDED in the promotion KIT! The kit came with the drum.... not the product line for the tunnel. Tell that rep to shove it up his a$$ and have his district rep get out there to see him .... and tell him also that this POST IS ON THE AUTO FORUM! To my knowledge... nothing has changed. The goal is to get you to use DB... then MAY YOU WILL USE OTHER SIMONIZE PRODUCTS. But with that kind of service.... I'd speak to your regional or district rep and pass him over.

Thanks very much for the reply. From the start, I pretty much figured it was BS but I just hadn't had the chance to look further into it. Its amazing what some people in this industry will try and tell you...especially if you are new to the business. I've taken your advice to heart and already acted on it. Thanks again for the reply.

When I get a coupon/rebate, the first thing that I do is read the restrictions, then throw it in the garbage. I don't understand companies that try to give you something and then have 2 pages of exceptions. Why bother with them.

I took Ben's Car Wash advice and called Simoniz. The individual I spoke with said indeed you did not have to buy all Simoniz chemicals to do the rebate but just the Double Bond. She said she would look into things and have someone call me. My rep then called and left me a message stating that he had heard from Simoniz regarding my "inquiry". He said the lady I spoke with was in "data entry" and didn't know what she was talking about. He said that I would in fact have to buy all Simoniz chemicals if I offered the rebate. This is beginning to look/smell bad. If anyone from Simoniz reads these boards I'd really appreciate some clarification on this matter. Does anyone on here use Double Bond with other chemicals and still do the rebate?

I'll have my district rep look into it. I never heard of this. I'll call him tomorrow and follow up with you. The box of promotional stuff comes with the DRUM.... that INCLUDES THE REBATE COUPONS. I've used DB for 6 years and I have extra BOXES IN MY OFFICE! I never signed an agreement to exclusively use there product.

Tell him to have his district rep call you.

I will call my rep tomorrow. Please PM me with your reps name and area.

I spoke to my Simonize rep this morning. He called the district rep. I should hear soon. But my rep agrees that John should be able to buy DB in a drum and the register tape with the rebate form. It might be specific to your area, or a distributor who is not a simonize rep.

John, you can buy DB in a drum from Kleen-rite or from your supplier. I can put you in touch with my supplier to buy the register tape and bypass the supplier all together to avoid the "conflict". Either way... you don't have to buy DB from him!

The rebate/warrenty form has a low redemption rate in all reality to the manufacturer (or they wouldn't offer it or be out of bussiness if the redemption rate was too high). But to offer it alone increases sales to both the customer (in appeal) and to the consumer (you) because it helps sell the product.

If your regional rep is Brian Young, this will be taken care of by Monday. If I did not believe in this product and did not use it, I would not go to bat for it.

Sounds like a rep, that is running his own show. He should have thought about the fact that smart people use the Forum to learn what the facts really are. I guess he is lucky that DB is a good product or people move to something else. I as recall there was something like this with Rain-X.

Yes, I heard back. I got a very vague message left on my voicemail from my local rep. It was on Saturday and he said he just wanted to give me a call and see how things were going and if there was anything he could do to help. No mention of anything that we've been discussing on here though. I decided not to call him back for the time being. I think I'll just start ordering my double bond and other chemicals from Kleen Rite and bypass him completely.

so what will you do about the rebate tape? The point of the rebate is to sell more DB. The rep knows that he was wrong. I heard from the district reps. I'd call him and get the tape or call me and have my rep sell you the register tape and send it to you via UPS and bypass your area rep like you said.
