I am currently working on redesigning my WashCard system and now have the ability to discount "per visit" at a set percentage while also offering my discount Washcard packages as well here is what I currently have:

You pay $46.00 ------ You get $50.00 (8% Savings)
You pay $90.00 ------ You get $100.00 (10% Savings)
You pay $170.00 ---- You get $200.00 (15% Savings)
You pay $246.00 ---- You get $300.00 (18% Savings)
You pay $320.00 ---- You get $400.00 (20% Savings)
You pay $360.00 ---- You get $450.00 (20% Savings)

now that I have the ability to take off a % "per swipe" at either the autos or self serve bays????? but I don't know what is a good %, one wash I researched http://www.wondercarwash.net/Content.cfm?CopyID=479 is at 15% off "per visit/swipe"

$9 or 15% off is $7.65
$8 or 15% off is $6.80
$7 or 15% off is $5.95

I told some customers about this new idea and they we're thrilled if I we're to do it and wanted to buy my program once it was up and running.

What do you think?

I would simplify it a little. Too many options confuses people. Start with 2 or 3 options at the most.

Soapy is right way too complicated. You wouldn't read that menu would you? I wouldn't if I were the customer. Think of your customer not what is good for you. KISS is what they call it.

Marketing experts believe the best way to determine the optimal price discount is to test different levels in the marketplace.

In setting price discounts, it is suggested to avoid two things; 1) too high of a discount and 2) lower perception of quality that is usually associated with higher discounts.

Consider researchers who studied how discounts affect purchase intent and quality perception and if consumers respond differently to discounted known brands versus unknown brands.

They conclude quality perception and plan to purchase in future are positively related. People respond more favorably to known brands than unknown brands. Known brands can be discounted more than unknown brands.

Researchers find a 15 percent discount is effective in increasing plan to purchase in future. Discounts of 30 percent or more adversely affects quality perception especially when brand is unknown.

So, I might begin by setting the discount at 15 percent and then determine if there was an increase in sales by some percentage, etc. And so forth.

I wasn't going to do both styles I described above, I was just pointing out the package plan I currently have going and the new option Washcard just introduced with percentage off per use.

We offer our "club members" 20% of when they swipe on Wednesday only. If they have not been in for 2 weeks a "we miss you" text/email is sent to them and they get 20% off their next swipe. We can also issue a "bad weather" mass email/text when the weather clears offering a discount for a set period of time when they next swipe. They also receive a free 10th wash and a free birthday wash. They receive a text/email which alerts them that their next swipe will be one of these and when that offer expires.
