Dayton 2H616 Gearmotor Problem

This is the motor that turns my spraybar on my IBA.

Occasionally, it 'free floats', causing the spray bar to pass by the proxes.

What causes this? Motor wear? Is there a gear inside there that is going bad? It's not the proxes, the belt is tensioned properly, and the motor secure. I can create this free spin issue once in awhile when rotating spraybar manually. My thought is that I need to replace this motor.

Thanks in advance.

Did a little more research and found this:

-motor and gearbox are separate.

-could be either the 'brake' on the motor itself or a worn/bad tooth on a gear in the gearbox.

The free spin problem doesn't always occur at the same spot, so I am leaning towards the brake being the problem, thinking that it if it were a gear issue it would likely happen at about the same spot in the rotation, but it appears random.

Called Grainger Tech support. AWESOME customer service! Explained the problem to the tech guy. He immediately informed me it was the brake on the motor itself. He knew the part# and price off the top of his head!

Ordered and on its way.
