CryptoPay vs. D.A.N.

Just this week I contacted Hamilton to upgrade my ACW4 to process my credit cards at the LaserWash via High Speed connection. I got a quote for the latest D.A.N. (Data Access Network) model which is a newer 'econo' model - a bare bones high speed processor for around $2690 which includes the serial cable I need within the ACW to make the new module work.

So just as I'm considering going with the Hamilton DAN, I get a card in the mail from KleenRite about CryptoPay and if i'm reading this correctly can be used to retrofit my Hamilton ACW4 AND add to all my SS bays. What's the catch? Anyone know if I would need to purchase anything from Hamilton in addition to the CryptoPay?

Any feedback on CryptoPay as a CC solution?

-Cryptopay cost $1600- $1250 for all the cryptopay stuff and $350 for the dixmor display.
-The system works really independent of the acw and sends coin pulses and interacts by reading the original display output from the acw controller.

That is interesting about the dan unit. Does is still use the cc computer? If it does that would mean 2 computers that you would be depending on. The cc computer is a pc104 embedded system though (no fan)..... no sure about the eco dan?
 
I just installed a cryptopay unit on an ACW 4 for a customer and it seems to be working great. The cost for the kit was $1600. The kit has the swiper, the coordinator, a new lexan face, and the dixmor display. I had a few issues installing due to a bad display and cryptopay was very helpful in taking care of the situation. The display actually uses a wireless transmitter to communicate with the swiper. If I had an ACW that needed a credit card reader I wouldn't hesitate installing one.
 
I've already got Dixmor LED7 timers, is this what your referring to or do I have to add another display?
I don't follow what you mean by 'coin pulses' -- not much of an expert here.

From what I understand about the DAN, it does use the existing CC computer and connects via some cable they send with the unit. I would then have the DAN unit in the equipment room which in the case of the 'ECONO' model I would add a monitor, keyboard, etc. Apparently this cheaper model is simply the guts of the unit without the protective case, therefor has to be placed somewhere free of moisture.

If the CryptoPay solution would work my ACW and SS bays, then I'd say it's a no brainer since I'd be able to share a merchant account.
 
So the eco dan is the exact same thing as the normal dan? That is interesting..... I like that option the best. The dan could do fleet and ss bays also right? I don't like that you have to have the other cc computer though.


After calling and reading the instructions on the crypropay for the acw. It just seemed to expensive for what it was doing. If it interacted with the acw controller I would think it was a great idea.... it really doesn't. Seemed over priced for something that wouldn't work if you changed the welcome message?


Maybe you should first call Randy and see what kind of price you can get an eco dan for? Or maybe I should? :)
 
For what it's worth, Cryptopay is a all around thumbs up in my book. We only have it in our SS bays but it is fantastic.
 
We had to play this game "WashCard Vs Crytopay" and we went with WashCard reason being we had to have not only credit cards accepted but the ability to make Fleet accounts, loyalty programs, discounts days, etc. Crytopay is mainly just for getting credit cards accepted on site but what if you need to implement a fleet program or create a wash club that's where Crytopay needs to be working on.

Genesys Technologies is a tiny company with only several employees.

Unlike “Square,” Genesys targets and prospects a niche market - self-serve washes.

I agree.

However, I don’t see how Genesys can fit in between operators and existing competition to capture value because 1) Self-serve market is now much smaller and is not growing and 2) automatic market is now huge, growing and is already owned.

So, is Crytopay a dead end?
 
I have two sites that run on DAN's. The sites have multiple Goldlines ACWs so it made sense to go with Hamilton when we installed the DTT readers in our SS bays, for a one stop cc solution.
Actually, I've just finished upgrading and replacing our old Win XP econo DANs at the two sites that have been in service for 6 plus years. Everything went smoothly, plug and play with some basic fleet and cc account entry. We upgraded them because of the Windows XP end of life deadline that just came and went and to remain PCI compliant. Both DAN upgrades were done in about an hour each, with FREE tech support remotely dialed in to the machines. The new Win7 embedded DAN machines were both discounted to $800 each -if we sent in our existing old DANs as a trade after installing the new DANs, a great deal when you think about it.
I mention all this as an example of the on-going free support you'll receive from Hamilton mft.

Cleaning Up Mud, sorry for the delay in answering. We have First Data and the rate is 9%. Not free but not bad I think.
