Cryptopay Setup

We installed 3 cryptopay swipers in another self serve yesterday and being that they didn't have dixmor timers we had to set them up in "Count Down Coin" mode which is turning out to be a major issue with customers waiting in line, if there is time still on the meter when they pull in they can hit the lighted button on the swiper and keep charging the previous customer's credit card until the max charge ($15) is reached. The system is a Ryko Signatures Series with Keypad timers not rotary style.

You will have to educate your customers in some way. You could put in loop sensors in the floor so when a car leaves it resets the timer or you will just have to be there or more signs or something. I have them in my bays with Dixmor timers and am in count up mode and the same thing happens in reverse ..... if there is still time on the timer it will count up until the timer hits the $12 mark which is my max charge. I have had a few customers call to tell me they got charged $12 and complained because they used to wash their car for only about $6 so I sent them a few tokens and explained how it worked and they were fine. Since I use count up pressing the button (which I wish we could get with a red ring not a green one for count up mode) stops the timer, so I ordered the little round STOP decals for the old style selector switches and cut them to fit the button and placed them on there so it says STOP. One other thing you might watch out for is by default they set the swipers to place a $10 hold on credit card transactions...sort of like the gas stations do...I had one customer that pressed the button and the timer show it charged him $4 but he got a text on his phone indicating a charge of $10 to his card (I didn't even know you could do that). When the transaction actually cleared it was only $4 of course but you could get a call if you have customers that have that setup for their cards or if they check their credit accounts on a daily basis.

We get the calls from customers regarding the pre authorization charge often...so much so that we recorded a message on our voicemail that explains the process. That helped a lot. Still, some customers are just certain we are ripping them off and vow to never return...I hate that. I wish there was a work around.

The default amount of the hold charge can be changed but I guess that would defeat the purpose. Cryptopay can set it to whatever you want but the default is set at $10. Ric you ought to post some pics of your new dryers.....
