I was watching the show COPS the other day and this one took place somewhere in South Carolina at a SS car wash. The cop was driving by in the middle of the night and saw a car parked in one of the bays. He parked his car and went to investigate. As he walked up to the guy from behind he could see the guy was let say pleasuring himself. He taps on the window and the guy gets out and the cop is going to arrest him for indecent exposure. By that time some backup had arrived and you could hear in the background a fellow officer say well you can't really charge him because he was in the self service bay.

We recently had an incident where a transient on a bicycle was moving from the front of the bay to the rear of the bay while "at the amusement park" and watching an (elderly) female customer, she had no clue it had occurred and when we found it on video later that day, we called the sheriff. They were unable to arrest him because he had "created his own privacy" by hiding behind the wall. I pushed this to a lieutenant to no avail, "That's California" with a shoulder roll is the most I could get from the deputies.
I hope this state wakes up.

Over 20 years ago, my dad got a page from his Laserwash 4000 that a car was stuck in a bay one evening. He and my uncle, who were at another car wash, went over there. When they approached the car, they could tell a guy was seated. Then his lady's popped up.

I can't find the story anymore but there was an incident several years ago where a guy got caught using the vacuum at a carwash for some...................self gratification.

I remember that one, vividly.
It was a contributing factor in our change from the upholstery cuff to the claw.
Now we just get the occasional transient that finds a running vacuum to clean the lice from their head and beard.
