They will like anything you send. If he can't use what you send they barter it with others. We had a friend in Afghanistan for a year and sent packages every week for year. Remember they are out a lot so buy things in small packages rather than large bulk size bags. Snack bars are good but also at the grocery store they have these travel size packs of shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash etc. Another thing we went was a camera for his laptop. He could call home on the internet (his family had one on their side and they could video chat. Another thing Chris liked was the small flashlight with the red lense.... you can get them at walmart camping supplies. you can't go wrong with dipping snuff...hate the stuff but Chris said it was like gold over there. DVD's magazines, hometown newspapers, oh yeah....there are flavors that you can add to water....I think they call them crystal clear. They are powders they can use to flavor the water. Don't forget to send things like frisbees, used tennis shoes, balls, anything like that that they can give to the kids over their. Helps build good will with the locals. Don't send things that will melt or spoil...sometimes it may take three or four weeks before he gets the packages especially if he is at an fob. Hope this helps
