Boom Problem on 2.0. Won't wash front of car.

Boom will come down about a foot, flip to start washing front of car, but then goes back up into the gantry. Boom will then come back down and profile and wash the car like it should. The boom will also come down, flip and wash back of vehicle just fine. I messed with the eyes in the cans, in the gantry and on the boom. I can't find the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a weird problem similar to that on my WW 1.0 and it was the end of track boom. It might be a long shot but I would check it.

Double check your boom eyes- when the boom drops and sprays they may obstructing a marginal signal, causing the pass to abort.

I would say it is the safety eyes or the connector on the eyes. Clean the eyes, split the connector and clean then reconnect. I had a weird fault once with the boom breaking the gantry can eye as it dropped. This meant the boom wouldnt drop. its worth checking that to whilst on manual.

Warrior did you find the problem? I had an identical problem yesterday, and replacing the boom eye fixed it. This gantry sits parked almost outside in a converted SS bay. UV light had clouded the lens on the receiver so badly that it took very little to block the signal.

Sorry it's taken so long to reply. Thanks to everyone for their replies!!!! Forgot to mention that my problem is intermittent. Sometimes it faults and sometimes it works just fine. I think cfcw is on to it though. My boom transmitter eyes are directly in sunlight and are clouded over. Will try this tomorrow. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! I don't think it's the safety eyes because the boom wouldn't come down at all???

cfcw hit the nail on the head. Replaced both sets of boom eyes. Have washed several cars, and everything is working fine again. The eyes were clouded over receiving a marginal signal. I'm sure other user's know this, but you can now order Banner eyes direct from Banner. Didn't used to be able to, you had to go through a distributor. For a set of emitter and receiver eyes, it's about $45 cheaper than JC. Thanks for everyone's help!!!!!!!

BTW, when the eyes are really bad I have had some success taking 1500 grit sandpaper and sanding the eyes, then buffing them with a polish like flitz or plastic headlight cleaner.
