Blower motors

I have got to replace 2 of my 3 ten hp blower motors. I'm thinking of replacing the center motor with a 15 hp. The 10's never did a great job and am looking to do better since I have to make a change. Anyone have any advice as to weather adding the 15 would do any good?
 
10's should be able to do a pretty good job. I would check into maybe why the 10's aren't doing a good job. Perhaps chemical, PH issue, etc.. It's likely that if a 10hp isn't doing a great job, than a 15hp isn't going to be able to do a great job either.

Increasing the Horsepower of the motor, will not necessarily make any improvement, the motor speed will probably be the same, so you will not get any increase in air volume or speed from the blower. You will need to look at the size and pitch of the blower blades, to get more air, possibly you could get more air from the same horsepower motors if the fan/blower is changed for one with a higher output.

BBE is exactly right on, because I have 4 - 7.5hp motors on my dryer and they work just fine, the chemistry of your drying agent or clear-coat needs to be looked at first.
 
I'd take a hard look at your chemicals.
Another thing to consider is larger vehicles, trucks and those with sunroofs. I've heard complaints that the center blower was too strong and ruined the weather stripping of sunroofs or blew the drop in bedliners out of the pickups.
Everything I've read says the side blowers are stronger / higher hp than the center. Usually a 7.5 hp in the middle.
 
Drying is 80% chemical and 20 % dryer power! Though if the chemical is good you can try adding a vfd to your center blower. Increasing the frequency will give you a significant wind velocity increase!
 
I was not aware that you could increase the frequency above 60 Hz. All the ones I work with lower it. If you do increase it, would the amp draw go up accordingly?
