Automatic prep guns

Hi, all,

Can anyone tell me what the best way is to achieve the prep gun pump starting when the gun is removed from it's holder and trigger squeezed for use? Necessary components and installation guidance would be helpful, also. The flow switches I've seen in supply catalogs don't give any hint about the configuration.

I'd like to finally eliminate manual switching.

A flow switch needs to be used along with a tee and check valve on the outlet of the pump before the switch (so there's water flow to engage the switch) and an adjustable off-delay relay so the pump isn't constantly turning on and off every time an employee pulls and releases the trigger. There should still be a manual shut-down in place so the pumps don't get left running all night in case of a leak.

I agree with the flow switch and the timer, but you lost me with the T and check valve?

It's probably not necessary if there's city pressure to the pump at all times, but the few I've serviced drew soap from a tank. The tee on the outlet side had city pressure to it to engage the flow switch when the trigger was pulled.

This is how I "Automated" mine. Ran the HP line to the first arch. Connected it to a couple of nozzles. Put a deadmans switch in the entry Kiosk. Loader uses it on as an needed basis.

Mine is tied to the conveyor hydraulic pack motor starter. Anytime the conveyor is running the pump runs.

I put a push button on each side of the prep area, tied that to the coin pulse of a bay timer and set time and pulses. the coleman shampooer buttons lasted the longest of anything we tried.
