Attempted Stringing in Lex. KY.

View attachment 1255 Last week someone tried to string my changers. He wasn't able to, so he got ****ed and took a crowbar to my meter box and stole my bill acceptor. Crazy part is that I was on the way to the wash and because of holiday traffic, it took me double the time to get there and I missed him by 5 minutes. He was driving a very nice Silver Ford 150. I figured he was from out of town as the plate wasn't from KY. I was able to get his plate # and face and called the police. I heard back yesterday from a detective and it turns out he had stolen the plates from a similar vehicle in Illinois two days prior. They didn't have any other complaints from car washes, but I'm sure that if he hasn't yet, he will be trying this at multiple locations.

If he couldn't string them then how do you have five of the bills? Wouldn't the first one plug up the changer or do you have five changers? Did they stack but not payout?

I'm assuming he didn't get anything other than the change for each bill he put in. Had one gotten stuck in there, it wouldn't have accepted any more bills. Hard to tell on the video, but I didnt' see him scooping out change. Had no change come out, it would have shut down, so he had to have just gotten the quarters for each bill. I have two changers, it's a Rowe side by side. They do have Mars validators. I can post the videos, but not sure how.

I see now but I'm surprised that after the first one that the tape didn't keep the next one from being accepted.

The tape was supposed to allow the bill to be pulled back out without the validator knowing there was something in the path, otherwise it would shut down. So since they couldn't get the bill back out to run through again, they tried another bill, etc.

Many years ago, only once did someone attempt to string one of our two StdChangeMakers non MEIs. The taped bill shut down the changer. The camera right above the verifier showed the person & his attempts ... but the person was not someone we knew!

If you have the videos ready, just create a YouTube account and upload them. Make sure they're set to public, then use the Insert Video button and paste the URL.

Problem is the videos need the GeoVision codec to play, so they won't work on Youtube. Any easy way to get around that, or do I need to play them on my pc and record a copy on my phone?

The wife says to download Handbrake. It will allow you to convert it to an MP4. Make sure you have malware protection first.

My Lorex cams need the Lorex player to view them but upload to YouTube just fine. When uploading, You
Tube says it doesn't recognize the file type, but continues to work. When I download them from YouTube they are MP4.

Handbrake didn't work. I'll just take a video with my phone when I get a chance.

If what Ghetto Wash said doesn't work then look for a different format to export the files in from the nvr. Our Lorex lets us export in different formats but it is difficult to find the menu for it. You might have to spend some time looking for it. If none of that works and since Handbrake didn't work then try VLC.

Easiest way I’ve found... a steady hand and my phone in video mode recording off the playback

I was able to upload one to Youtube originally and it seemed to convert, but image was upside down and only showed a few seconds. I'll study exporting to different formats and use my phone if all fails.

So it looks like they tried again last week. Bills look exactly the same. Any chance they are getting anything? I tried to string them myself using the same bills and couldn't do it, but maybe I'm not experienced enough lol. 415
