Adding window tint service at car wash?

There are so many established businesses that generally offer a warranty that I doubt you could do it cheap enough to attract any customers and still turn a profit. You'd also need a closed building to do it properly.

The techs who perform the work are highly skilled at it.

It is difficult.

The shop must be sanitary and dust free.

We used to offer it but got out of it for many reasons.

Alternative - CARPET RECOLORING & DYEING/HEADLIGHT RESTORATION

A better service to consider that is less-competitive and easier and faster to perform would be carpet recoloring and dyeing with a system that has the dyes color matched to the 16 most common automobile carpet colors.

There are great systems out there that have you in the business immediately with no hands on training necessary.

HEADLIGHT RESTORATION

Another would be headlight restoration. Sanding and polishing oxidized and faded polycarbonate headlight lens. Systems as low as a couple of hundred dollars. You can charge as much as $50 per headlight.

These are far better alternatives than competitive and complicated window tinting.

What would a shop charge to re-dye carpets?

Waxman:

A dealer will pay a detailer up to $50 to dye carpets, sometimes including the mats, if they decide to keep them, and sometimes without.

Don't think there is a set price for the consumer. You can charge based on your hourly service rate. Say $50 and it takes an hour which is only $50 which I think is cheap.

Or, you can charge based on what it would cost the customer to replace the carpets which would be at least $300 to $400 by a dealer. Cost of labor to remove seats and carpet, cost of shell and replace seats.

A set of original mats from the dealer would be at least $150 so what do you charge? Maybe $35 to $50.

You can even "spruce up" the carpets and mats by putting on a light coat of the same color dye on the carpets. Amazing how it brightens them up.
