We got INKED! Friday, Box truck driver had 20ish gallons of black Industrial ink spill in his truck while making his daily deliveries, Thought our wash was the perfect place to clean his mess. Thankfully the businessman across the street called me to ask if I was expecting any deliveries at the wash. I took a quick look at the cameras and flew to the wash while calling the cops. Another 3mins and he would have been gone. Blocked him in with my truck and started taking pics. When confronted he was at a loss for words. When asked what it was he said "some kinda of tar like substance", he was covered head to toe. I let the words fly....... gathered my thoughts and ask for the shipping papers and SDS. His company respoded with a "hired gun" of a safety and compliance rep, they phoned what I believe to be the cheapest ill prepared cleanup crew I've ever witnessed. All in all local PD, Local Fire dept, county Fire Marshall's office and numerous phone calls to DEQ and local waste treatment plant. 8hrs later the remediation team pulled out, I again let the words fly as they were ill prepare for restoration and left me with damages that will be around for while. I'm now to give them a list of my losses. Bay hoses, brush, FRP paneling and loss of use for my business. Me and the hired gun nearly went to blows when he said "I've watched your lot most of the day and I've only seen 2 cars pull in and they both left I'm not sure you lost any customers today" no S**t! I myself don't make it a habit to pull into a business when I see such excitement going on. 13 months of turing this place around with not a single contractor or hired hand and he wants to question and make light of what we "didn't lose" a fellow wash owner suggested I start at my bay time of $.50 per minute for the duration of the ordeal plus my time. Still got the bay down as I can't stand to allow a customer to think this stuff is going to transfer onto them, their clothes or their car. I walked in the door around 9pm and poured myself the biggest JB I could tolerate. Suggestions on what else to add to the list of losses other than what's mention and a full remediation report for my records?
