    Sealcoating Monday.....

So after a couple weeks of playing with my hot melt crack sealer score from Facebook Marketplace. Cutting out some decaying sections and patching with Aquaphalt. and the promise of 2 days without rain. The local crew is on site seal coating. We'll be closed today (Mon 7/21 & Tues 7/22). I...

    Old Super Wash

As a fellow Super Wash Owner, you've considerably raised the bar on what's possible.

So what would you do (self serve bay abuse)

Thanks everyone for your comments and thoughts. After checking my records, this was the first and only time that a credit card issued to this person was used in the past 2 years. So I knew I wasn't dealing with a repeat customer, instead someone who needed to blow their truck bed out. I...

So what would you do (self serve bay abuse)

So I come in on Saturday morning to find mud all over my parking lot and a self serve bay completely a mess. I review the camera footage and find this gem.. After looking through the credit card transactions I have a name. Turns out he's a local physician. What would you do....?

    Underground RO tank

I have an old Superwash, and I also have an underground RO water tank. It's white plastic. It's big, it takes about an hour of ~4gpm flow (3 membranes) to increase the level in the tank by about 16-18". And I bet it's at least 6' deep. Mine tank is on the same side of the motor room as the...

    Bulk Discounts/Group Discounts/Corporate Buys/Fund Raisers

My wash is located very close to an industrial park. I've been thinking about approaching these businesses for bulk sales. What type of discounts are owners giving for these type of sales. What are the volume breaks folks have done in the past? We currently sell preloaded gift cards that...

So, How do I work this thing? (reverse osmosis unit)

Thanks ! This was an adventure for sure. I started this project not knowing anything about reverse osmosis. And after pricing new units, I decided I could rebuild this unit for a fraction of what a new one would cost. Along the way I learned the fundamentals. Am I an expert? Nope, but...

    PISTON VS PLUNGER PUMPS

I remember talking to the guys from Cat pumps at the Atlantic City show. They told me if you are gravity feeding or otherwise have positive pressure at the pump inlet the plunger pump (Cat 310 style) is the way to go. If you need to draw water to the pump (suction), then a piston pump is the...

So, How do I work this thing? (reverse osmosis unit)

You mean like this bad boy? Now that I have this working, I'll invest in maintenance tools/supplies.

So, How do I work this thing? (reverse osmosis unit)

OK I'll leave concentrate (reject) at 3gpm. These are what I had on my phone, I can get you some better pics later this afternoon. I currently have "recirc" set to 1.8 gpm, if I lower that, pressure goes up. I see you recommended setting it to 1.5gpm. I'll see what that does and report back.

So, How do I work this thing? (reverse osmosis unit)

Thanks! The pump is a 116N480F11XX, so it's supposed to flow 480gph. So that should do 8gpm. It doesn't have a pressure regulator on the pump. I can turn the control valve and get more pressure, but I'm wondering at what point do I overload the motor and trip the breaker? At some point I may...

So, How do I work this thing? (reverse osmosis unit)

Agreed. After getting it up and running, I gave it a little love. Video of the system running.

So, How do I work this thing? (reverse osmosis unit)

I took a gamble on cheap Chinese membranes to see if I could get the unit working correctly. It was a hard sell to buy expensive membranes when I couldn't get the unit to run. It would just stall the motor/procon pump. It wasn't unit I drew the system out that I realized what the issue was...

So, How do I work this thing? (reverse osmosis unit)

After much head scratching, changing some plumbing & new membranes I finally have my RO unit working. Turns out the previous owner had it plumbed incorrectly. He had the product water from membrane #1 flowing into membrane #2's core (where product water exits) and water from membrane #3's core...

    Presoak distribution issue..

I'd test to see if there was power at the middle bay's solenoid valve when the left or right bay is turned on. If there is a dedicated line to each bay, and each bay has it's own solenoid valve, then either the solenoid valve is bad or its getting power somehow.

What would you invest in? Triple-Foam vs Air Blower vs Vacuums?

IMO Vacs would be first and highest priority. However you do it. I would look to refurb or buy used. I have 2 IBAs and 3 SS bays and 6 Vacs. I charge $1 for 4 minutes of vac time. My Vacs collectively generate as much monthly gross revenue as 1 of my SS Bays. Next Would be Air Shammee...

    Presoaks Stacked Or Don't Stack

I read through this thread and I'm interested in testing this out. I currently do a low ph pass then a high ph pass then a high pressure rinse. For me, this is a very simple thing to change in my PLC program. The question I have: As we move toward summer and hotter temps, do you have any...

    FlowJet Pump Issue

Not arguing, but here is my rational.... HIgh ph Presoak is alkaline. Viton is for hydrocarbons

    FlowJet Pump Issue

I am using a flow jet pump to dispense low pressure high pH presoak to my self serve bays. I am using the Santoprene G57 pump. It is dead-headed at 80 psi to a 3 port SS solenoid manifold. When you select presoak from one of the self serve bays, that particular solenoid gets energized and...
