Our credit card system that we use at our wash in Australia has simple reporting that shows sales for past 90 days, including coins and credit cards. This would instantly verify the actual sales (perhaps discounting for any coins / cards used to test bays etc.). Do other credit card systems in...
My last project before I left my engineering / project management career was a canola processing plant here in Australia. I wonder if we purchased any of your equipment?
Thanks for everyone's replies. It certainly makes me feel a little better to think that there are lots of us juggling multiple ventures at the same time!
At our particular location, a carwash won't provide enough revenue and net profit to generate a healthy income. So our carwash is a "side hustle", with our main source of income being an automotive workshop and tyre service.
I was wondering how many other self serve owners are in the same...
For a slightly different global perspective, it is very unusual here in Australia to have political signs etc. on businesses. Our political debate here in Australia seems to be much lower key than in the US, and I think most customers would feel a bit put off by political messaging, even if they...
Congratulations on a successful first year.
I think it's a good reminder that in small business many of us are so busy and focused all of the issues that we have to deal with, that we forget to celebrate what has been achieved.
All the best to you in the future.
We've got a 3 day SS with dog wash. The dog wash is very low maintenance compared to the SS bays, much less capital cost, and averages about 1/3 of the revenue of our average SS bay. So by my reckoning, a pretty good investment. I would certainly recommend.
Firstly, welcome - I hope that you find this forum helpful and friendly.
Secondly, I think you will find this forum to be very helpful. Not only for providing advice regarding the economics of a carwash business, but also the realities of what is needed to run a carwash. It certainly isn't...
I think your approach is very commendable. From my humble experience, I think a self serve car wash is a good business introduction. Good experience with dealing with customer complaints, unexpected problems, a whole range of expenses, dealing with government agencies etc. etc. etc.
Most...
When I use other carwashes in our area, my main aim is to find things that I could improve at our wash. Trying to pinch any good ideas they might have!
** Nothing political here, just some observations! **
I often see discussions regarding valuations for car washes, particularly self serve facilities, and compared to Australian valuations, the US valuations always look pretty low. I got wondering about how property prices in general compare...
Farming & 4WD area for us, 50+ gallons of mud each week, just a part of life for us. But I appreciate that it's tough for washes trying to attract higher end customers.
We live in an area with lots of farms and 4WD tracks, so mud is simply a part of life for us. We have a 3 bay SS wash, and I shovel out about 50 gallons of mud each week. We also have 4" drains, and have to really keep on top of any muck building up.
Agreed, neatly presented SS wash.
We are in a rural area with lots of tractors and farm machinery, but I don't think that we've ever seen them at our wash. There must have been a tractor "show and shine" going on there!
