"Expert" is a loosely used term in this industry...

I understand that some areas, especially the mid west, have limited choices for service. It been a long, long held belief on this forum that it isn’t “who has the best equipment?” but “who has the best distributor?” A good service tech can make a poorly designed machine preform well. I was...

Need some help! Foam Brush Not Foamy

Do us all a favor and run your plan by someone. People here are extremely helpful. Our opinion doesn’t cost you anything but people here to help you giving our own time. It’s as frustrating for us as it is for you to throw money at a solution only to find out you had better options. this...

Need some help! Foam Brush Not Foamy

I skimmed the previous comments so excuse me if this has already been discussed. Have you checked the tip on the hydrominder? If it is clogged it obviously won’t draw. If the screen on the hose connection is clogged the volume of water won’t be enough to draw chemical at the proper rate...

    HP hoses fittings

Had this happen on a new install in 2004. Service company made all the hoses on site with replaceable hose ends. The guy used an impact gun to install each part. He spun the rubber off the hose. Most of the hoses lasted a few months. It really sucks to be the new wash in town and your...

    G5 big list of errors

I’m not a PDQ tech and have never touched their equipment. In the automotive world, when I see lots of faults that are seemingly unrelated I always start checking grounds. Check and tighten all of the wire connections stating in the main power panel (use your best judgment and work safely)...

What Kleen Rite IBA/SelfServ Chemicals Have You Been Happy With?

I use a few of the Kleenrite KleenPak line, High Ph for high pressure soap and Aquaguard for my clear coat. I also like JBS Storm presoak, and I use JBS red triple foam detergent for my foam brush. I’ve been using KR Kleen-White tire for 25 years. I should probably try something else...

    self serve exhaust cleaner system

It was 8 degrees here in North Central MA this morning. I was checking cameras and saw this gentleman with the high pressure gun shoved in his exhaust for a full wash cycle (5 minutes). He finished, revved the engine a few times, shooting water about 10 feet, and left the property. I think...

    CryptoPay and ShurVend

Can I use this MDB Cryptopay swiper on a ShurVend? The MegaVendor is listed as compatible. I know the MegaVendor and ShurVend are both rebranded AMS machines. Would this swiper work with only certain software versions?

Don’t be this guy! Spaghetti wiring

It’s called a Phoenix connector. These used to come with Carolina Pride SS meter boxes. I think Etowah Valley Equipment has them. Kleen-rite is showing out of stock https://www.kleen-ritecorp.com/p-31906-phoenix-contact-12-pin-female-printed-circuit-board-connector.aspx

Don’t be this guy! Spaghetti wiring

Fixed up some wiring for a friend of mine this week. I don’t have a great picture of the after but the before pic is crazy but it was working.

Bill acceptance in the bay, was it a game changer?

I’m sure almost all of the customers would just use credit card in your scenario. However, they may choose the carwash up the road that still accepts cash for their next wash. If customers have money in their wallet in any form (bills, coins or credit) I want to make it as easy as possible to...

    New wave cyclone help.

How many bays away from the equipment room is the IBA? What size tubing are you using? Foam curtains need lots of flow/volume. AnalyticWash is on the right track with the larger injector. I also agree with IB Washin, these curtains never look good. Temperature changes or a little wind break...

    Anatomy of a rotary switch

I use Seal nuts but I don’t lube the switch when I install them. I do spray some silicone lube on the stem when I lube my locks.

    Anatomy of a rotary switch

Electro switch. I don’t think there is any significant difference between Electroswitch and Shalco. Years ago I only used Shalco and they would work for several years. Now both brands last about 3 years at the most.

    Anatomy of a rotary switch

I’m replacing a seized rotary switch on a SS faceplate. I thought some people would like to see the insides. 1st photo shows where the switch corroded causing the switch not to move. The corrosion is at the bottom of the switch at the spot where the stem protrudes from the body. The water...
