mitter cloth

Time to replace the cloth on one of my mitters and was wondering if this cut I saw on Hanna's site has any advantages. The cloth is not cut into strips, but is one big sheet. Seems to me like it would not get around luggage racks and various other irregular protrusions. On the other hand, it would not separate/split and just fall to the side of the car.

Does anyone have any idea if there are any advantages to this? Anyone use this cut?

Saw this at the ICA show. I think AVW had something similar.

I didn't "get it" the larger the material, the greater the issues with "bridging" across contours rather than getting in nooks and crannies.

Exactly what I was thinking, Earl. Thought perhaps I was missing something, but I just can't see it being as effective as the traditional strips.
 
Did you see the N/S Jungle wash? They had what looked like a piece of artificial turf for a mitter curtain. Same concept, one big sheet. Not quite sure about that one either.
 
Why do some operators cling to FTB mitter curtains (space?) when the performance of a rotating top brush appears to be so much better?

As for the Green Forest concept, it seems to speak of desperation. Am I alone in this assessment?

Because top brushes are a PITA. I have 3. One tunnel with 2 and one with one. If I have the space I'd go with 3 mitters. 1 FTB and 2 STS or favorite setup has 3 AVW with 2 in one direction and one in another.

Top Brushes have issues with Pickups, Taxis with roof top ads - Big Time, and all sorts of top and Back end racks. Yes, lots of cleaning in a small space but there are tradeoffs.

Green forest can set you apart. Seems like it's a headache to keep clean.
 
Once again concepts used in the past returns. Years ago we used to call them drag curtains. If the material on this one is soft and pliable enough it might work. It looks like it moves front to back. I would think it might be better side to side. Yes they are a little work to keep them clean. They need to be pressure washed almost daily to keep them in good condition but we never had any damage issues.

You have to constantly keep an eye on the pneumatics otherwise it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Those things are notorious for damage claims.
