Pallet strapping kit.

I.B. Washincars

Car Washer Emeritus
I have a bunch of large items that I will be selling soon and can picture that I may need to ship some of them by freight line. It seems that every year or two that I need to deal with this dilemma for one reason or another and never have a decent way to fasten something to a skid unless it is something that can be bolted down. I'm looking to buy the stuff for strapping if it won't break the bank (translation - I'm cheap). I found some on ebay, including this one

Does anyone know about this stuff? Is this adequate for an occasional need.

I have only needed to ship that way a couple of times, and I put it on a pallet and took it to the freight company, and they threw a couple of bands on it for me.

It's a bunch of wall-pack light fixtures. They are still in boxes and weigh 20 or so lbs. apiece. I'm just not that comfortable with shrink wrapping. If I need to stack them very high on a pallet I'm concerned that they might shift around and become dislodged. They have glass lenses and I want to be sure they will get there all in one piece.

Build a cheap box around the pallet

Although I am pretty handy with wrenches and stuff around the washes, when it comes to carpentry related stuff I can barely drive a nail in the ground.

Anyway, I bought that strapping kit. That will make sure that I don't sell a darn one of those lights :).
