Which type of material is the best for a touch automatic? Some use neoglide, some use a felt type and JC uses a hard rubber material. Which is the best at cleaning, reliability, and the least damage claims. I don't think the machine would matter as much as the cleaning material they use. Had anybody had any bad experences with any or all of these materials.
If you get a machine with a top brush, I would not put the soft felt - or any material that can absorb water) on the top brush. Too many issues with changing weight and balance. I'm not even sure if any manufacturer will do this, anyway. The last cloth top wheel on a rollover I saw was a Hanna Autostar from the 1980's.
Some machines mix material depending on if it is a top or side brush. I know you can get an Autec with a closed cell foam on the side brushes, and cloth on the mitter. Also - I've seen the Sonny's i-wash with a microclean material on the sides and a closed cell foam on the top brush.
Basically, if you get a top brush, I would recommend closed cell foam for that component. If you get a mitter, I would then go with traditional cloth - or perhaps a microclean if you can put it on the Autec machine.
With all that said, I agree with Waxman - I like both the Ryko and Autec machines. I have personally used both several times and like them both very much.
When it first came out, I thought the Belanger Freestyler was going to be a machine that would interest me. I liked the fact that the gantry track was elevated, the fact that it was a five brush machine with tall front arms, and I also like the wheel blaster on it. Unfortunately, I have not heard much good at all about the machine, and probably would not consider one.
