Sometimes it appears to me that there is someone who puts up a sign on the highway "Don't go to this carwash!!"
Today is a day like this. Great weather, no rain forecast, weekend and numbers totally down. Last weekend overcast, a bit of rain and busy!?!? And the strange thing is that all customers seem to think the same. What is your thought on this or am I just paranoid?
 
It?s the same up here in the Puget Sound area, DEAD!!!! Last month was the worse month I?ve had in 27 years, this month it looks even worse. It?s like someone turned off the light switch, beautiful weather, no customers. Every car wash operator I?ve talked to in the area is experiencing the same situation .
 
We FINALLY are having a decent weekend after what has been two months of rainy weekends. No way we'll catch up and gross as much as last year, though...
 
When the sun shines we are busy. If it is the least bit cloudy or there is a bad forecast for the next day, we are dead. There seems to be a mindset that everything has to be perfect for the consumer to want to wash.

Around here in Ky. it seems to go like the "time of the month" I mean that if its good weather around the time the gov. checks come in we get busy, bad weather around that time we do nothing, then a day or so later that check is gone and we still do nothing!

So I go home and guess what its "Time of the Month" NOTHING AGAIN !
 
While business has been slow for me, the clientele seem to changing. I am cleaning up less trash thrown on the ground and the cars seem to be a little nicer. the lower income customers seem to have disappeared. While I do feel bad for the lower income customers in my area I know they will be back when (if) the jobs return. Hopefully I can retain the the higher end customers when the low end return.

Things I am noticing. NEVER any change around. First thing we all used to do was check around meter boxes and vacuums for change. Their isnt ANY anymore. We go thru our vacuums when we clean them, used to pull 125-150 $. Now 50-60$. I am getting more silver Quarters!!!(The only good thing).
Cars going thru tunnel are dirtier then ever. Wash avg. down. Customers we used to see every week, lucky to see once a month. Common response.
JUST DONT HAVE EXTRA MONEY!!!
The rain has been horrendous. this month i have only had 3 Sundays without rain, 2 of them had Eagles games, same as rain. Every Fri. ans Sat has rained. June - 27 days of precip, July not much better. and anyone in the NE. knows this month no better.
I am up slightly over last year, only because Jan,Feb and March were ok. Since then its been horrible.
Anyone interestd in a carwash cheap!!feel free to contact me. I have had enough.
