Hamilton stacker jamming

I have yet another issue with my change machine. It works up to a certain amount and then the stacker stops intaking the bills. Once that happens, a few more might get accepted by the validator until it can no longer jam/crumple them in the small space between the validator and stacker. Any ideas why this would happen? The stacker has the comb on it if that makes a difference. I have another one I can swap out, but it looks much older.

Thanks!
Patrick

**Yes, I know I should convert it to newer/better validator setup but can't just yet.

I have swapped a few out for this issue. wear and tear and sticking. You can place a cardboard box in there while you get one coming or send it in. Just plug the wiring harness together after removing stacker and bills will drop into the box. If you check it daily you should be fine. also check the stacker and validator to be sure they are in alignment

I'll take a look at it and see if there are any alignment issues and then do as you suggest with the box. Thanks! :)

Take the comb off the stacker, it's more of a problem than anything. Check the spring on the side of the stacker, it pulls the stacker pusher plate up a little after the stacker runs. If you remove the stacker be sure to turn off the power to the changer, after you remove stacker locate the stacker Bypass plug, it'll be cable tired on the cable that goes to the stacker. it'll have a purple wire loop on it, plug it into the end of the cable that plugged into the stacker. Turn on the changer and put a box under the validator. When the bills slide into the stacker on top of the pusher plate or ball up in the back of the validator it's normally a sign that the validator needs to be serviced. The older looking stacker you have will work, all the single stackers are the same. I have a few Mars conversion kits for the Hamilton bill changers

fwiw the mars conversion greatly improved the reliability of my hamilton changer. bill rejects on the hamilton were far too common and customers complained alot. the mars sucks the bill in and gives change; very reliable.
A few years back Randy hooked me up with the Mars setup. I used to have jams weekly with the Hamilton units, which caused many unscheduled trips to clear them. This new setup has had zero jams. The conversion cost is low as well.
