Washing out paint in the self serve bay...

Honestly, it isn't the paint washed down the pit that I'm concerned with, it's the paint that now stains my freshly seal coated parking lot that has me furious.
This rocket scientist paid using a credit card, so besides having his license plate number, I also have his name.....

What would you do? This is latex paint.

Call him up and say there is a rather large mess that needs cleaned up. He can come take care of it, or he can pay the bill for the contractor that you hire to clean it up. You can threaten police and small claims court. They normally will come clean it up.

I’m always most bothered by their urgency to get the plant off of their possession. Then as soon as the paint is off of the car they take off with no regard for the paint that is now all over YOUR property. I’ve had a few people clean up after themselves but the vast majority just leave with paint all over the walls, gun and hose and sometimes even the ceiling!
Even in my “big city” of 45,000 people the police will track down the driver using the plate. IMO, this is vandalism. It isn’t something that happened inadvertently.
Good luck with your police report and reparations

Despite what all those people on FB are saying, this is NOT a normal part of this business. If you can find him, need to get him to pay to clean it up. I wouldn't even let him try to clean it, hire a pro and make him pay. If you go washnvac route, he'll likely get in trouble, but I don't know if and/or when you would see any $ to fix your property.

I have a video of one asshole from about 10 years ago that was ridiculous the amount of paint he sprayed out cleaning his 5 gallon buckets. The floor was covered. I called the police and they called some environmental dept that came and took samples. I do remember after the samples and the videos I gave them they told me he would be arrested and heavily fined.

If I could ever figure out how to upload a video on here I will share it. Although that video wont be as exciting as all the ones ive seen of the tik tok girls at my washes these last couple weeks.

Chris do you have a update for us yet? I think if you used a turbo nozzle to clean up the paint on your fresh asphalt sealed lot is would take off the sealer. I've had to deal with similar situations over the years and it frustrating to say the least. I've found that calling the police is normally the best option, if I call them they could give a rip less but when the police show up on your porch that normally gets more action.

We get little f***ers that tag our asphalt periodically. I keep a case of the cheapest flat black paint from Lowe's or Home Depot for when they do it. The sun and traffic make it fade away within a few days (here in sunny California).
If it's a really fresh reseal, get a pail of seal coat for about $30 to $40 to cover it.
Whenever I do a reseal we seem to always get one burnout from an a-hole. I'm at the point where I try to let the small stuff go unless I can catch them easily.

Just gotta go with whatever fits your energy level, the available time in your schedule, and the value of the satisfaction (if any) vs. the effort you put into it.

*As an aside, one day I came in to see my bay absolutely trashed with green paint. When I played it back it had been done by a guy in a brand new Chevrolet Suburban with the paper plates from the dealership still on it. What I found out later was he had a 5 gallon pail of paint on the front passenger seat and a car cut him off forcing him to brake so hard the paint smashed into the dash exploding it all over inside his Suburban. He spent 45 min using HP INSIDE the vehicle, the dash, the window, the doors his pants, lol. It was absolute comedy to watch. His Suburban didn't start after all of that, so a tow truck showed up and towed him away. A 5 minute phone call to the tow company gave me everything I needed to nail his ass for $500. His choice was restitution ($500) or a felony vandalism charge (law is $950 in damages) which he easily reached if I included a pumper truck to empty the pit. He started getting pissed at the tow company until I asked him him if he knew what a felony traffic stop looks like. You know, 3 or 4 police cars, guns out, walk backwards and eat asphalt while being cuffed and then transported to jail. I told him he should be kissing the tow company's shoes for giving up his phone number because if they hadn't, that was 100% in his future because I had him on video.
He became the nicest person you could ever meet after that realization.😄
