Ryko Softglass Maxx 5 - Pre Soak

I have a Ryko Softgloss Max 5 (SGMX5 FX3U) model. Currently, we don't offer the pre-soak chemical. The machine does a decent job overall, but I still notice bug spots on the bumper and a few other areas. I'm considering enabling the pre-soak feature to help with this.
  • Has anyone here enabled the pre-soak? Does it make a noticeable difference? Any recommendations on whether it’s worth adding?
  • Does the machine support this option out of the box, and at what point in the cycle would it be applied?
  • Ideally, I’d like to avoid adding a separate pass, since the top/middle package already takes a bit of time. I was thinking of spraying the pre-soak during the tire cleaner pass—has anyone tried this approach?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

I haven't done this but have thought about it. Replace the foam bath with presoak and crank up the brush foam. I have bug prep on mine but it doesn't really help.

Any presoak cycle will only be as good as the chemical you are using. If you need to take a substantial bite out of the dirt and bugs chemically, you need a high pH product that has some hang time before your friction wash. I don’t know how the Ryko is set up, but bugs on the front bumper and windshield need to be targeted with the bug remover/presoak as the very first step in the cycle. If you have high pressure manifold on your machine, that can assist with breaking up tough grime and bugs before your friction part of the wash.

@rshiggaon, on that vintage of machine, it wasn't possible to order a machine with both the Foam Bath and the Presoak option. You had to select one or the other. What you could do is to add a Bug Buster option, depending on what software you are running. That's basically a spray manifold on the floor to spray the front of the bumper and windshield. You would also add an additional injector (or pump) and valve for a presoak to spray the chem. If you call and talk to our tech advisors, they could help provide some guidance and make sure the program you have installed will be capable of supporting it. If you call 844-627-9274 and select option 9 for tech support, then 2 for Ryko, you can reach the team.

I have Soft glass max five and I did add the bug prep option which does help some if the bugs have been on that bumper a long time they’re like concrete you can’t scrape them off with your fingernail or even a brush in the self serve
