Most reliable IBA touch-less equipment?

Hello guys,

I have a 2 bay IBA wash (one touch less and 1 pro touch). Both PDQ (Laser 360 plus and Tandem). Pro touch has been great, no issues with it. Touch-less on the other hand breaks at least 1 every 7 days. It's always VFD, Arch, Bridge etc. It seems like every busy Saturday something goes wrong with it. Equipment is 8 years old and we do a decent volume (over 20k cars per bay) I started looking at some other equipment manufacturers to see which one would be better. Petit seems good, but the initial investment is very steep. So I landed on WashWorld Razor Edge. Any feedback on that machine and its reliability? There is a good distributor near me and they are very comfortable with WashWorld and tell me it's one of the best. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

i've had a ww razor for 3 years and i love it. I think I replaced one set of photo eyes, the announcement speaker and one high pressure hose in that time. my distributor is awesome and they have been able to help me with any little issues. I can't really speak to other brands because I don't have experience with them but I can tell you that the WashWorld razor is awesome in my opinion.

I have had to replace a trolly gear box, rebuild a changeover valve, replace various hp hoses, replaced a couple fittings, replaced nozzles, one prox sensor, one set of photo eyes, replaced a couple relays that hang occasionally, monthly greasing, just replaced the belts on the rails a month or so ago, and new led panels in the signage. Nothing too major about everything I've done has been preventative or parts that just wear out, hence why i just ordered a new machine for another site. Very easy to work on and wash world is VERY good with tech support. I love my distributor even though he's 2 hours away he stocks dang near every part to be able to repair/rebuild about anything in a pinch. I keep a wide assortment on hand of the common stuff just so if there is an issue im usually not down more than a couple hours.

Is that on a new Razor? How long did you own that machine to have that kind of maintenance done on it?

Thats everything ive done in 6.5 years. Pretty small list considering alot has been preventative in my mind. Im ocd and dont like being down, i will replace suspect parts on a rainy day so i know im good on the sunny days. I have a vector that im replacing in september. ive put 3x the price in parts and repairs in the last 2 years but that machine is now runnning better than it has in the last 15 years. If i didnt need depreciation on taxes id delay the reload a couple more years on that. I have nothing but good things to say about washworld.

I have the exact same set up you do only I have most of my problems with the soft touch side. My laser wash 360 causes me very little grief. However, I did go through a stretch where I was having problems with VFD‘s, so I put in a surge suppressor Large enough to handle the entire service and that took care of the problem. Utility companies often have minor surges on the utility lines. It doesn’t affect most things however VFD’s are very sensitive. I would try putting in a search suppressor before I trashed the laser wash 360.

That's great advice! I go through a lot of VFDs as well (usually 1 per month) I am going to talk to an electrician to install a surge suppressor. Which one did you end up getting installed?

I bought one from Siemans that was large enough to handle my main service. Your Electrician will be able to help you out on that. I haven't replaced a single VFD since I installed it.
