Question for you Crypto Pay users. I am fixing to move forward with the install at 2 of our 3 locations. I already have the Tap Plus units, but before I start with the install would you consider ordering and installing the swipe units with them as well? Pros and Cons of having both? TIA for your input!

Crypto Swipers with Tap Plus install?

After only 2 years we are leaving the swipers behind. Last week we saw a girl trying to tap one of our remaining swipers and left (because, of course it didn't work).
It kills me to watch people swipe their card the wrong way 10 times in a row, swipe too slow, not swipe it all the way through, or see that a unit hasn't had a transaction in a few days only to find out it's been vandalized with a pocketknife or saw blade.
TapPlus is what I'm looking for, no screens, no buttons, no mechanical interface.
My only gripe with TapPlus is that we can't use the QR code reader to provide a video feed from the bay or snap a photo of the user during the transaction.

I can’t think of a single reason to do swipers anymore. Most site are taking them out. Tap alone is the only way to go. Put them on everything at your site that takes money. Almost no one has cash anymore-plus your ticket average will go up. It’s a lot easier to tap that card than feed a bunch of weak bills in the acceptor
Fleet accounts is one reason. I love the cryptopay fleet program and have a lot of accounts so unless they figure out how to do it with the tap plus using the camera or tap cards im still gonna keep the swipers. Also some older folks are always stuck in there ways. Cant blame them. Small percentage im sure but im not letting money walk out the door because they cant swipe. I got tap plus on all vacs but I use swipers and taps in bays. Once the card companies stop putting strips on the cards for swiping I will be all tap but until then ill accept any way to charge someones card. Doesn't matter to me if they tap or swipe.

I just found out you can use the QR code option for fleets. Just wanted to pass that along.

When I first got one of my locations it had a price burn-in on the street sign for .35 cents.
How many of us are still accepting dimes? If not, why not?

For me, it seems like there comes a time when we as operators need to identify when something, percentage wise, is a PIA for the customer and is causing damage to our business either through perception or reality. I've seen about a dozen women look at the swiper and say some variation of: "I'm not putting it in there, it doesn't look safe" (which is ironic because that's something a man might say
) lots of people are worried their card might get "skimmed." The news stories are relentless in our area. And then all of the things I mentioned in the post above like wrong way swipes, slow swipes, bad mag stripes on the card, vandalism, etc..This is just me however, I always appreciate hearing how others from other locations all around the country see a particular function of the business and the way they react to it. There's definitely no one "right way".
The card not having tap isn't really an issue, they can put the card # in something like Apple Pay or Google Wallet and tap their phone. I think we may see the actual card itself disappear soon (a few years) and not even have a chance to worry about the mag stripe going or the tap coming .
