We drain the water every other day.
Do you all think it would be worth it to get a UT sensor from Amazon to monitor the wall thickness? I guess the compressor tank would be the only application, but for the damage in those videos, it might be worth it.
Ours is well cared for (amsoil synthetic oil, no external/visible rust) but they are old, pushing 15+ years.

Get an auto drain, they are well worth the cost and easy to install.

I don't think you need a UT senor to check the thickness of the tank. You keep doing what you've been doing and inspect the tank regularly for any signs of rust or bubbling under the paint.

Any particular kind you recommend? I see a ton of cheap ones on Amazon. I'm always afraid to trust them and then they fail and I might find out too late..

I don't think really makes a whole lot of difference as long as they work. We don't have them on our portable air compressors, but we do on the stationary air compressors. We still blow down the portable air compressors every Saturday, they don't make a lot of water.

We use those Amazon cheapies, we test them weekly, never had any issues. We drain for 5-7 seconds every 45 mins, so usually we hear it working at least once or twice while we are at the washes.

My day job is selling Air Compressors, the new tanks don't last as long as the older ones, compressed air condensate has a really low ph, eat around the welds, never fixable safely, the bigger the tank you can fit the thicker the metal, the more exspesive compressors generally have the non-Chinese tanks, Most "Industrial Duty" compressors are All Cast Iron with ball Brg cranks what you want to get if your >5Hp application,
<5 are mostly throw away's nowdays, kind of like refrigerators,
Good luck!
I was reading your post on Cryptopay, Thxs,
