ww2 boom problem

Hi 1st time poster here from Australia, any thoughts on the following problem would be much appreciated . Ihave a 3 year old ww2which has given me very little trouble till now. During a hp wash or rinse pass the boom will creep lower as it travels along the car and sometimes looks like hitting the car until safety eyes kick in and boom goes up to its rightful position ,no alarms come up on red lion and output card in gantry door does not show that boom is getting any signal to drop ,(''boom down card does not light up while boom is creeping lower. Ihave run boom count tests and they are fine, also physically pulled on boom to see if there is any play while in manual mode and all seems good. Its droping is a smooth action (no clunking or any noise ) just a smooth drop generally around 6'inches or so. So only the safety eyes are preventing disaster. Actually turned of the profiling mode today until I fix this.Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I had a boom sagging on a ww 2.0 a few years ago. I didn't worry about it too much because as you have noted it self corrected. But one day it did not "self correct" fast enough, and struck the top of a customers vehicle. That scratch cost me $500. A new gearbox corrected it.

mine does the pass up and down the front of the vehicle but never goes all the way back up. When the gantry starts moving over the vehicle the boom seems to go upwards when it is over the hood. Scary to watch but it always goes up in time. 2 bays, 100k washes in each, has been doing this forever and never hit a vehicle.

Hi everyone , thanks for the replies .The local Coleman tech guy told me it would be either the boom drive motor or gearbox ,also spoke to a local operator here in Aus who had same issue and ended up replacing the boom motor. So I climb up and find that the plastic cover on motor has a large tear and motor casing quite wet I remove cover ,dry motor down,replace patched plastic cover ,leave profile option off for 2 days , turn it back on yesterday and washed about 50 cars so far with no problem . Lessons learnt-keep moisture out of motors and always check with easiest options first before spending big $. Thanks again .

Heard today somewhere in Aus. a boom fell on top of a car on a fusion unit. I think in June sometime, was that yours? No one can figure out what caused it and has not happened again. We had a boom belt break last night and the boom was at the bottom on one side, the gantry went forward and hit the back of the car. Twice. Looking now to see why the gantry didn't stop.

Hi "cleaning up mud",pleased to say that was not my machine that crashed on a car here in Aus ,have not heard anything here about it. Very sorry to hear of your incident ,may I ask how much damage and how old were your belts?
