WashWorld Razor Edge Max Vehicle Height

GreatWash

What is the max vehicle height on a washworld razor? I can't find a spec on their website but I'm thinking it is 7'. If so is it possible to increase this? Has anyone done this? It would seem a good option considering the amount of lifted trucks I see on the road. Appreciate the input. Thanks

First, it's called the WashWorld Razor, not Radius (That's Ryko) and the max height the WashWorld system can wash is 7ft, I'm actually contemplating having my Razor raised BUT there are issues in doing this because anytime you move the distance of the spray arm away from the vehicle the impact impingement is lost significantly. I've been wanting WashWorld to build a new pump stand with the pump system Ryko uses and with the advancement in technology since that video was made I'm sure they could somehow. Trust me I've heard the pros and cons of doing it as well. Maybe 2021 could reveal the "WashWorld Razor XTreme".

Here is a video Ryko made years ago describing this.

Diamond Steve & Ryko are 100% correct. We replaced our Radius with a WW XR7 Razor. The impingement difference is shocking!
I'd dare say 60-'70% of our customers have asked/complained about it, but it seems more like 95%!! When you're in your car you can REALLY tell the difference in impingement.
I still like our XR7, but that is 1 large issue. Im not sure why WW hasn't done something about this...

So how is the wash quality with the lower impingement compared to what you replaced?

I'm pretty sure you can turn down the high-pressure pump on certain passes on the new wash World razor. Is that what you are talking about?

Because the Ryko Radius uses larger nozzle sizes and a higher output of water the impact/impingement is much greater then the WashWorld Razor. Some of my customers complain the pressure doesn't seem high enough on my Razor where with my old Ryko OHD it sounded like a fire hose was being used to rinse the vehicle.

Does the Ryko use a larger pump?

Does the Radius actually clean better? I don't have first hand experience.
I understand it sounds better to the customer and perception is important but my Razor and Lasers clean very well without Ryko's impingement.

I passed a car wash whose height bar said 90” for their new razor. No idea if the bar represents the old machine or if it has been updated for their razor. I will ask when I see the owner in the next week. Our bar says 7’ however we have washed cars up to 7’4” when I was watching. Makes me nervous when I see the arm so close however I was curious. No plans to change the bar as we have people who push the limit so the margin for error is a good thing.

I have never seen any data on the impact change for the arm distance to the car. Would be interesting for a manufacturer to publish such a test. Maybe Petit will as their arms are a fixed distance from the car however they appear to use a tighter (5 deg) osculating nozzle and claim to have amazing results with that approach.

Roz, I would be interested in what you find out. Please update when you talk with the owner of the 90" Razor. Thanks

Yes - you can get away with fixed distance and higher impact on 5° and 0° nozzles, but their oscillation speed, pattern and the speed of the machine have to be closely matched to ensure thorough coverage / otherwise you can get stripes.

Spoke with the owner today, his bar height (90") is accurate. He has not seen any cleaning issues with the higher setting although his middle dryer early cutoff sensor is not working properly - no idea if related to higher setting (WW working on the sensor issue). IBA height is 12' which helps so servicing Razor is fine.

What size HP and how many motors are on the Razor?

I'm pretty sure Washworld told me 90" vehicles would fit, but I put my bar at 84" so that there is margin for error as people hit it and don't notice.
