The trend toward a ?cashless car wash site? is moving ever closer to reality with many proprietary card systems being offered for IBAs, wand bays, and vacs by suppliers. The new technology of a computer-controlled Vending Center at a wash site is no exception to this trend. National credit card brand names are pushing the new mag-stripe/RF technology in their new card offerings. The RF part of the card is known as Tap and Go, PayPass, etc and passes all the information of the card to a card reader by just tapping the credit card on the reader. Very fast, accurate, and immune to water and dust contamination.

All models of the ShurVend Vending System can accept the new e-Port card reader that can read the mag-stripe/RF credit cards being offered by most of the major credit card brands. The e-Port can be operated either through a cell phone connection wirelessly or by an Ethernet cable hooked into an existing computer (with internet capabilities) and router already installed in the wash. The e-Port system is a proprietary system of USA Technology so they do all the processing of the cards.

In addition to the e-Port system all ShurVend models can be installed with the Exacta and WashCard systems for reading and clearing of credit cards through their processors. The car wash uses one processor for all card operations in any piece of equipment.

The Wickets System (IDX) is not operated by credit cards but uses ?stored value? cards (same size as a credit card) to access the vending center (or other equipment) through RF technology. (We will show this system for the first time at the SCWA Expo next weekend). Another cashless device is the ExpressKey system which is a ?stored value? system that uses a Key rather than a card. All ShurVend models are compatible with any of these systems. Again very fast, accurate, and immune to water and dust contamination.

We at ShurVend work very hard to be on the cutting edge of these new technologies and will be glad to help you with our knowledge and expertise in these fast changing new technologies. We have all of these ?cashless? systems installed somewhere in one of our customer?s machines, so we have some real world experience to pass on.
