trying to get a previously out-of-service vac running and encountered an odd one: after successfully replacing an unprogrammable ma800 acceptor with a spare, the vac turns on for a fraction of a second then shuts down. i assume this suggests it had a timer problem, too. haven't swapped the timer yet as that's slightly more involved. any other ideas, before i do that? all the motors are new.

Sticky,

What is working properly prior to the coin mech change? I sounds like it wasn't, so I'll go with that.

When trouble shooting anything that seems weird, I simplify. SO what I would do is disconnect the coin mech and the load off the timer and try it (just tap 24vac to the coin switch connection on the timer to simulate coins being dropped in). The check the output with a volt meter to see is 110vac shows up and for how long.
