Vac Credit Card same as cash?

Earl Weiss

Well-known member
Adding Cryptopay to 4 of the vacs at the SS. Normal Pricing is $1.00 for 5:20. Thinking of Credit card to be $2 minimum and will give 10:40, and it will be count up with $5 max. I know lots of places charge more for vacs but in Chicagoland $1.00 is basically what SS gets including my closest Top Notch SS competitor except of course for the many $3.00 EEs with Free Vacs. Wondering if I should charge the same $1.00 star for credit.

You say?

I would start with the $2 minimum and monitor the use. You can always change it. You still have to pay for the fees & for the swipes.

I'd also charge $2 to start, not because of fees and such, more because in my experience the majority of people vacuum for two cycles.

I agree that most people use two cycles but at Earl's wash I would imagine most people would leave with time left. Ten minutes plus is a long time. How does the count up work with Cryptopay as I don't have any? Do they press a button to stop the charges?

Yeah... 10min at any price on a vac is a long time! I’m $2 for 6 min....plenty of time for most and even some customers don’t use the full time. At 10 min...I’d bet you’d have lots of folks piggy backing. My customers like my well maintained vac and equip and the price being a bit more has not been a huge issue

If it's count up though they are going to shut it off when done, no? Maybe that's not how cryptopay works, but that's how my cc system works. So they will swipe, and it's 2 dollars no matter what. They will shut off when done. So they may only vacuum for literally 1 minute and then hit the stop button and shut it off, either way they are getting charged at least 2 dollars, and shouldn't be piggy backing.

Yes.

Cryptopay can be set for count-up (Requires a digital timer), or count down in two modes, swipe for a single credit or swipe once and allow button to add a coin per press. I wouldn't enable button press on a vac especially if the startup is high for concern of someone leaving the vac running and the button enabled.
