Hi all

our detail shop uses ammonia/water for tint glue removal.

Is there something better you know of and have tried and used yourself with success?

thanks

Clothes steamer (Walmart). Heat the glass with the steam as you slowly pull off the tint. "Most" of the glue will also come off with the tinting. Any residual glue spots you re-heat with the steam and wipe off/scrape off with a blade or good towel. The key is heating the glass/tint good and hot with the steam. The hotter the better!

I did just see a Jay Leno's Garage video that did the same thing:

The decal removal is at about the 8:30 mark.

This is assuming the tint has not yet been ripped off leaving all the adhesive behind.

You can even use a steamer after pulling off the tint. The left-over glue can be heated with the steamer and then wiped off or bladed off. Again, get it good and hot and it's easier.

Using ammonia on 000 steel wool to soften glue then blade the rest. Respirator and doors open on detail shop. towels down on dashboard (windshield was tinted). Coming off good. fast and easy.
