SuperWash Remodel

Who has remodeled a super wash automatic bay to fit a larger machine? The current bay dimensions are 10'10" in height, 12'8" in width, and 24'7" in length. Looking to hopefully fit a razor in there eventually. Looking to hear from people who have done a remodel. Thank you!

I raised the roof and made a bay longer but never widened one. I got lucky, my superwash had 13'4" wide bays, so it could fit a razor.

Wonder if you have a self service bay that you can lengthen to make work as most SS bays are at least 15’ wide.

We had two narrow Super Wash auto bays. We looked and couldn't find much of anything that would fit in them that was an upgrade to the fixed ovals. We looked into moving the walls but with the mono poured slab/foundation and floor heat tubing it was impractical. In the end we opted to raze them and build one large bay. (20' X 65') We also removed the flat roof on the equipment room and SS bays, raised the block walls 5', built a 6/12 pitched roof. We also did a lot of other things to the site. It was insanely expensive.

To @OurTown 's point about the floor heat, I repaved the bay that I extended and put new floor heat in with the remodel but in the process that broke the floor heat to the other auto bay next to it which at the time I didn't want to fork out the money to also repave.. Just use that bay to dry pit mud now, not sure what to do with it. Might become a dog wash someday if I feel like having more hassles to deal with. FWIW the cement was 8" thick and the floor heat was on the bottom of that 8" at my wash, so now I'm sure it's more efficient...

Looks like a solid transformation! Love seeing these before-and-after projects — gives me ideas for my own spot. Curious how long the full remodel took start to finish? And did you run into any surprises once you started tearing things out? Seems like there always ends up being at least one unexpected headache once the work begins

My former SuperWash location was built with 6 self serves and two automatic bays, and bay 6 could be converted into a third, but it was changed to a storage bay at some point... originally the wash had two HydroSpray Classic systems, but I recently changed to some newer D&S5000 equipment to ride out a few more years until I can come up with a long term plan. My plan was to take the two bays and demolish them and rebuilt into one longer and wider bay that can accommodate the newer equipment.

Not many, but that's ok. I don't have the money for ONE... let alone TWO haha!

Ours had 4 feet built onto the back at some point, I think they went from the SuperMatic to the Hydrospray units maybe... I'm not sure.

I figure if I demo both sides and make it one big bay, that opens me up to getting something like a D&S iQ Max that can do tall and longer vehicles.
