Scam Warning Again

I was selling something on Craigslist and got the fake/bad money orders to pay for it. Of course, the amount of the MOs sent exceeded the amount needed, so they want the excess sent quickly by Western Union.

These were Wal-Mart/Moneygram MOs. They are real MOs that have been bought for a lot lesser amounts, cashed and then reprinted/modified. I must admit they are really good, the average person wouldn't even suspect that they are bad.

Don't get sucked in by this scam. Years ago, I posted this and a week later one of our visitors that hadn't read it got burned $5K.

Good advice - this is why so many listings I've read say "Cash or cashier's check only."

Beware of fake Cashier's checks also. And counterfeit cash as well!!

I guess the only safe way is to make sure they completely clear the bank before handing over whatever merchandise they purchased, and of course not accepting it over the value of the purchase.
