Ryko wheel scrub wobble

My wheel scrubber on the drivers side seems to have too much wobble. I got error code 10 twice Friday. There are 2 tiny screws inside the panel. 1 seems to be sheared and the other is loose but won't tightten. Do these tiny screws stabilize the wobble? I can't find anything else loose. It's raining today so I'll have a chance to dig into it.

No there are two tiny little screws that you can see when you open the panel. They go through the bottom of the panel down towards the bracket but I'm not sure what they are there for. I cannot find anything else loose.
 
These are shear bolts. I would replace the bolts if the entire assembly is loose. If its just the brush, check the set screws on the hub and the bolts holding the brush to the hub.

I have a another wash owner keep getting a Code 10 for the wheel scrubs when it's at the front doing the wheel scrub. I have replaced the proxes on both sides, checked the air pressure, replaced the gauges and it still does it about every 15-16 vehicle, it extends and retracts just fine.
 
That's sounds like a great idea but the code 10 pops up intermittently so I would have to watch every car, but if both proxes we're replaced new how could it be a prox issue? from the video I see I believe it could be the quick release valve not working properly because the wash shuts down after the code 10 pops up.
 
Just because you installed new proximity switches does not mean the signal is getting to the PLC. If it pops up every 15 cars then you may have to watch 15 cars go through (better than if it did it every 100 cars). The PLC is not seeing one or both of the prox switches to make this code appear. It could be mechanical but you still need to figure out what side is causing the problem and the only way to know is to monitor the inputs.
 
Well I believe we fixed the issue it may have turned out to be the quick release valve not functioning properly only time will tell though. Also if I watch the inputs on my handheld and manually turn on the wheel scrubs and the input turns on and off doesn't that indicate the it's making it to the PLC?
 
We know its making it to the PLC at least 15 times in a row because the first time it didnt, the wash would shut down. If you monitored the PLC inputs and it did malfunction, you would know what side was causing the problem. Just guessing and throwing parts at a problem can cause more problems and even keep you from finding the problem. Always best to follow a standard troubleshooting procedure. If you guessed right and it is the quick release, you most likely replaced two good prox switches.
 
Ok Mark I have another site that keeps getting a "Code 66 Wheel scrub motor / Side Blaster breaker tripped" on a Softgloss what should I look for?
 
Use a "clamp on" amp meter to test each leg of each motor and see if its drawing too much current. If its in the normal range, you may have an overload going bad. If the current level is high on one or both motors, look at the wire connections at the problem motor. Most likely its the motor (water gets in the J box) but it could be the gearbox. Separate the two and check the keystock. Try turning the gearbox input shaft first one way and then the other (they normally lock up when they change directions due to too much clearance between the gears). Test the current again with the motor off (make sure its held down or it can jump when you start it. Also make sure the wheels and rails are not sagging so low its dragging on the ground or catching on the guide rail.
 
It turned out to be the Left side prox for the wheel scrub, not a motor, gearbox or a an overload, so the Ryko 2 digit display book is misleading as I thought it to be a motor or a overload tripped as well.
 
2 digit display is for onsite attendant fast evaluations and not necessarily repairs. Use the four digit codes for more in depth diagnosis. You can use your hand held, in bay touch screen or even network CAW4 (you can print them from inside the store). Four digit codes can tell you at what point in the wash process the malfunction occurred and even the wash count so you can see if it happens every wash.
