Seems a little too often, see if it has a flame sensor(Like a Photocell) and clean it. Might make it work. Also try Just ask reznor.com free troubleshooting online.
I cleaned the photoeye and powered the unit back up and it started on the 3d try of the ignitor 'trying'. Maybe something dirty in the ignitor assy./gas feed?
I have a 15-20 year old Clean Burn furnace. It now runs very well. Over the last 2 years I have learned a few things:
-when it doesn't start, try manually restarting it (mine has a button). If that doesn't work try increasing the oil pressure (mine has a dial), if that doesn't work, try the air (again dial)
-need oil, air and spark
OIL and AIR-make sure you are getting oil and air
-does it smell like oil when it tries to start? is there an oil mist in the chamber? open it up and check.
-clean the tip it not
-are you getting adequate air to atomize?
-then clean the waste oil filters (they are metal mesh filters). one is at the very end point where oil initially goes into the process and there is another after that before the pump. Mine would run for a little then stop until I cleaned these filters. Now it runs for months.
-clean the ash at least once a year
Spark
-clean the electrodes so you have good spark
-clean photo eye
-check connections with volt meter
