Replacing Ryko bearing

I have a bearing out on the tall rear arm of my softgloss. It's been out for a while but functional. Seems that I remember that you usually have to replace the whole shaft. Is that true? Say it's not so!

Which bearing is it top or bottem? if top just seperate the motor from the gearbox, unbolt the gearbox set that aside, remove the lovejoy, now on the bearing there is a set screw on the collar you have to loosen once done unbolt the bearing from the arm and it should slide up and off.

please tell me that it's the top one because the bottom one is not fun to replace

No it's the bottom one. That's why I've put it off.

Jimmy, the only time you need to replace the shaft is if it is bent, or the shaft is turning in the bearing race and the shaft is not tight in the bearing race. If you are replacing one bearing, be sure and do both while everything is disassembled. Both bearings have turned the same amount of revolutions, so it is just a matter of time before it goes out.
I don’t remove the motor, I just unbolt the gearbox and tie the motor-gearbox to the arm with a rope.

But doesn't the clutch have to come off? They will never come off.

No Jimmy the clutch doesn't have to come off I will send you the pictures of when I had to replace the bearings. I took pictures of the whole process just in case someday I would need to look at it. Also I should tell you that once my clutch goes out I am replacing it with the new retro kit from Ryko to eliminate the clutches on my softgloss.
