replacing old 3 bay whats pick ?

We currently have 2 washes the newer one has ginsan wand wash equ the other old Ryco equ that needs replaced. having second thoughts about the Gin San direct drive system what are you thoughts? The direct drive portion does not bother me much as we have had both and either one works well. The real issue is just getting the best equipment for the money.
I have a guy who has built a couple of vdf stands and for the most part look pretty good. Problem is we would probable have to finance the build for him which is a little dis concerning to my partners. Service from the GinSan distributor has been good, and it would match the other wash equipment limiting the need for two parts supplies. Price for a 3 bay stand and bay boxes rewired 45,000 using old booms and hardware in the bays.

Sudsy & others,

I remember when Specialty Equipment out of Minneapolis - St. Paul put in our equipment for 6 bays back in 1987 ... they had a space saving direct drive version available ... which I was leaning towards but the sales rep told me that there was less maintenance with belt drive. So we went with their belt drive version & never looked back. Just for the sake of better understanding ... based on yours & others experience ... what kinds of issues long term wise do direct drive have vs belt drive for self service? I guess that is what you are asking for the most part ... so I am not sure how much help this post is ... other than I am also interested in the pros & cons of the two styles.

I will say that if you are patient you can pick up some like new used equipment cheap. Last year I sold a like new 3 yr old loaded three bay coleman system with booms and bay hardware, SFR production, tri color, etc for 10K.
