Razor Powder coated vs Stainless frame

In the process of getting a new Razor. My walls are a little suspect in a few places so I’m opting for a frame. I understand stainless lasts forever, how long for the powder coated? Like everything this is snowballing on the price.

Our first Razor in 2017 was not stainless. I think we replaced the motors twice (in 76K washes). Our later purchases we only opt for the stainless. The few parts they change to stainless do last longer. That said the Hi & Lo ph will take their toll even on stainless. Is it worth the extra $5K, I think yes but I am sure others could disagree with me. Frankly I think WW should just sell stainless versions but understand why they have a less expensive version as their prices have increased significantly since 2017.

Post some pics. Do you have block walls? Ive never came across a block wall bay that was so bad they had to do a leg kit.

I don’t but I have a crack that runs floor to ceiling. You can almost feel it move when you push against it. The guys that came & looked at it didn’t feel comfortable mounting it on it & honestly I don’t either.

So what are your walls?

O ok. I thought your "I dont" was referring to you having block walls. You should post some pics. Mounted plenty of machines on block walls with tons of cracks and no issues whatsoever. Although never have I pushed on a block wall and felt it move! That would be a first. If your walls are as bad as you say they are it could possibly be cheaper to have a mason come in and do repairs then to buy a SS frame kit for new machine, Plus you won't have to worry about the roof collapsing! Just an idea. Pics would help a lot.

I have a stand on my razor package and I bought the stainless steel one. There was really no choice in my mind because The car wash environment is so harsh I wanted the best chance possible to have the stand last and look good for a long time.

Man i bet you could easily get 10+ years out of the powder coated frame i know a guy has one gets used very hard and is holding up well was instailed in 2019. I checked on a stainless frame two months ago and got quoted 21k and a powder coated frame was like 11k.
Half price.

How many washes per year do you expect, and how many years do you plan to keep it? Some may buy a new one every 7 years after being depreciated out. If you do that, the stainless frame model may have a higher value as a whole unit vs just parts value if it had a powder-coated frame. It could make up the difference between the two. These are just my speculations and points to ponder.

I’m hoping for 6/8000 washes per year. I’d like to think that in 7 years I’d have either sold or leased the wash at that point but who really knows.

Here is a picture of. Single block thickness, other side is the pump room. When I said feel it move it’s not rocking back & forth. You can beat on it with you fist & there is a quite noticeable change in sound.

Does not look that bad. Get a mason over there. The grout cracks is one thing not big deal. The cracks directly in the center of block at bottom can also be repaired/replaced. A razor prolly does not weigh over 300lbs? and that’s being supported by not one but two walls. Unless the bay is really wide I don’t see a leg kit as a must have.
