Heard about this tv show awhile back. Just watched it yesterday. Great show! Very interesting. Maybe we should have a little field trip to the place when we go to Vegas?
Dave, we have been to the pawn shops before, they are fun in vegas. I seen a woman in a wedding dress --pawning off her ring. Lots of watches, guns, cameras. When the woman was pawning off the ring my wife said she should have pawned the big loser off also. Quite a few near fremont street.
There is another on history channel called "pickers". We have seen a few times, it is neat. The locations they find are fascinating. The last one we saw they found a side car mount with wheel but missing one piece--the old guy sent them to a place on property he recalled putting the piece 20 yrs ago-he was right. The same trip they traded the side car mount as partial payment on old Italian Vesps scooter with sliding canvas top. I love digging through places like this.
I love the Pawn Star show as well. It's very interesting to say the least, but I wonder how many of the episodes are staged? I remember an episode last year where a lady found an old $20 bill "In her grandfather's bible". A couple of collectors forums I frequent busted them quickly. The bill had sold at auction in 2001 and was also listed on the "experts" web site for sale. Oh well, it's interesting anyway.
I have some old silver dollars I want to sell and may use them as an excuse to drop in that store.
Oh yeah, this show makes working in the pawnshop both fun and exciting. I have a friend who owned a pawnshop. Reality is not as exciting. People you generally didn't like trying to pawn old VCRS and microwaves. This guy did specialize in expensive firearms, other than that it was a pretty dull place to work. However, every once I a while something exciting would happen. A stripper was a regular customer, and sometimes she would perform an "artistic show" to pay her interest payment.
A show for interest-sounds like a good deal. I hear of girls showing things for a cab ride. A car wash must be too degrading to show things for even the dirtiest girls.
